Teaching

As a teacher, I strive to create a safe space for growth and exploration in music. It is a joy to accompany students at any point in their musical journey, and I have been happy to work with students ranging from 4 to 64 years old.

In voice lessons, my students and I focus on building a foundation for healthy singing and an awareness of how the body and the vocal mechanisms are connected. My students have a wide variety of musical interests, and together we identify goals to develop each student’s unique vocal instrument and allow for flexibility in style. Students can expect to build technique through vocal exercises, develop sight-singing and theory skills, learn repertoire, explore its meaning and experiment with expression. Singing can feel vulnerable, and as a teacher I assure my students that our lessons together are a safe space to try something new.

Observing my students grow in their artistry and technique is one of the things I love most about teaching. Through asking questions, I encourage my students to think about the musical choices they wish to make and how they would approach it technically. My goal as a teacher is to empower my students, so that they can be independent and self-sufficient musicians in the future.
